A 2014 lawsuit in India slapped this scrappy brewery—maker of Gandhi-Bot IPA, hazy orange, hugely flavored, restrainedly bitter, citrus-ripe, exotically tropical—with the charge of defaming the memory of Mohandas Gandhi by imagining him as a robot. (It probably didn’t help that Gandhi was a teetotaler.) The brewery apologized, changed the beer’s name, and redid the label to depict a robotic arm flashing the peace sign amid a pile of scrap metal and winding hop bines. If you can’t find G-Bot, go for Sea Hag, one of America’s earliest canned IPAs.
